Focal Chorioretinitis Produced by Ultrasound.

چکیده
Two hundred and forty rabbit eyes toere exposed to focused ultrasonic radiation at either 3.5 me. or 7 me. Circumscribed chorioretinal lesion and localized destruction of the ciliary: body could, be obtained without evidence of injury to other ocular tissues. The sound beam retrodisplaces detached retinas. These observations suggest possible uses of ultrasound in retinal detachment repair, ctjclodiathermy, and destruction of intraocular tumor.

Late cerebral relapse of congenital toxoplasmosis.
Focal encephalitis occurred in a girl with activation of chorioretinitis which on clinical and serological grounds was taken to be caused by toxoplasma. The encephalitis and acute ocular inflammation resolved with treatment with pyrimethamine and sulphadiazine. This is presumably an example of reactivation of congenital cerebral toxoplasmosis.

A second patient had a pale optic nerve in association with the classical chorioretinal scars of toxoplasmosis. The third patient had toxoplasmosis chorioretinitis of the macu...
متن کاملUtility of tissue culture for detection of Toxoplasma gondii in vitreous humor of patients diagnosed with toxoplasmic retinochoroiditis.
Laboratory recovery and confirmation of the etiologic agent in necrotizing retinochoroiditis are problematic. Tissue culture and intraocular antibody titers were compared as adjuncts to clinical diagnosis for toxoplasmic retinochoroiditis: the correlations were 91 and 67%, respectively. Isolation of Toxoplasma gondii may establish a definitive diagnosis in patients with toxoplasmic retinochoroi...
